Heavy rain likely in several parts of India

Bangalore, July 20: Southwest monsoon is very active over Telangana and considerably active over the Sub ­Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Marathawada, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, Konkan and Goa.

Rains and thundershower occurred at most places along the West coast and at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Some of the other places to receive heavy rainfall include Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh and Lakshadweep. However, Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar remained mainly dry.

Weatherman warns that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in one or two places over Uttarakhand and coastal Karnataka. Heavy rainfall would also occur at one or two places over west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa, Telangana, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The weather conditions are likely to remain the same in the above-mentioned areas in the next few days.
