Guwahati, July 18: The BJP leadership in Hailakandi district of Assam has hit back at some of the local organisations who criticised Gujarat Chief Minister as a communal figure following the 'puppy' controversy. The BJP leaders said in a press conference on Wednesday that some organisations were busy accusing Modi without actually knowing much about him, a report in Dainik Jugashankha newspaper said.
The BJP said such irresponsible and baseless remarks against Modi will create division in the society. They said the opposition parties were worried over Modi's able leadership and launched campaign through some organisations to defame the Gujarat chief minister. They particularly took a dig at the Congress and All India United Democratic Front, an Assam-based party.
They said Modi's detractors in Assam should visit Gujarat to see the good work he has done there and instead of bashing him, should follow his legacy. The daily report said.
The BJP leaders also accused the Congress government of the state of discriminating against Hindu candidates in government jobs and schemes and also failing to ensure proper law and order situation.
