Shinde downplays Headley's confession to NIA on Ishrat Jahan

New Delhi, July 17: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Tuesday avoided commenting on reports that 26/11 suspect David Coleman Headley has not mentioned Ishrat Jahan in his ‘official' confession.

According to an agency report, Shinde said that he cannot disclose any information given by Mumbai terror attack convict David Headley due to a pact with the US.

"I have yet to receive the report. Whatever Headley might have said, he must have said that in front of the FBI. There is an agreement between the FBI and our country's police, and we cannot disclose that," he told reporters.

"Whatever Headley has said, it was before FBI. And we have an agreement between FBI and NIA. So, we cannot disclose it," he said.

According to reports, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has told the Ministry of Home Affairs that Headley has not mentioned Ishrat Jahan in his ‘official' confession.

The Home Ministry had asked the NIA last fortnight to find out whether the girl was a terrorist following a request from Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh.
