BSP expels MP for backing Narendra Modi
Lucknow, July 17: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Wednesday suspended party MP Vijay Bahadur for backing BJP leader Narendra Modi over the alleged misinterpretation of his words told to news agency Reuters during an interview given recently.
He had said the Modi's "puppy coming under car wheels" remark was misinterpreted while it had showed his compassionate and sensitive side. he said the Gujarat chief minister wasn't referring to any community through such remark, adding that those who were opposing him were doing so for their own political interests.
Bahadur, following the action, said he had said what was right and was expecting an action on such lines.
Party sources said the Hamirpur MP went on speaking against the party's "philosophy and principles" despite repeated warnings and hence was expelled. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has been informed about the party's decision, BSP sources said. Singh, a first-time MP, has also been denied tickets for the Lok Sabha elections.
