Twist in BJP: Advani to declare Modi as PM candidate

New Delhi, July 9: LK Advani will declare Narendra Modi as the PM candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP would come up with this surprise for its followers and critics ahead of the general election which is expected to be held in 2014.

Sources told OneIndia that Advani would announce party's decision regarding PM nominee during a press conference which would be organised in July 2013. Modi also would begin his new journey with Advani's blessings, added the sources.

According to the sources, it was RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat who broke the ice between Advani and Modi. The RSS chief was believed to have convinced Advani to leave all his aloofness towards the Gujarat Chief Minister to maintain the decorum in the party.

Advani has been assured of giving power to take crucial decisions in the party, said the source. The veteran leader would be allowed to decide his constituency ahead of the 2014 poll.

Meanwhile sources informed that BJP President Rajnath Singh along with Modi too would take crucial decisions for the party. Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj too would receive prominent responsibilities in the party.

It seems that BJP has taken the decision to allocate Advani the task to make the much expected announcement to put an end to all controversies over the unity among the leaders.

Earlier Advani had resigned from all significant posts in the party when BJP promoted Modi as the election campaign chief. However, other party leaders had succeeded to convince the veteran to withdraw his resignation.
