Pleasant morning in Delhi, rain expected

New Delhi, July 7: It was a pleasant morning in the capital Sunday with the minimum temperature settling at 27.9 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season. The Met Office has forecast light rain later in the day.

"The sky will remain cloudy. Light rains and thundershowers are expected in some areas of the city during the day," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, the IMD official added. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. stood at 85 percent.

Saturday's maximum and minimum temperatures settled a notch above the season's average at 35 degrees Celsius and 28.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The monsoon arrived in Delhi a fortnight ahead of schedule June 16, but the city has not received much rainfall since then.
