Beni Prasad is insane, wonder why Cong takes no action: SP

New Delhi, July 3: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday slammed Union steel minister Veni Prasad Verma over the latter's attacking comments against SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying he is insane.

On Tuesday, Beni remarked that the SP chief was not fit even to sweep the residence of the prime minister. Senior SP leader Kamal Farooqi called Beni an insane and said he doesn't know how to behave.

Farooqi strongly condemned Verma's language, saying it was highly objectionable. He said it is for the SP would not reciprocate on similar terms for it believed in certain values. He also said that it is for the Congress to think whether to continue with such minister or not.

He expressed surprise that the Congress was not taking any action against the 77-year-old Verma despite his repeated use of foul language against the SP leader. Mulayam Singh is the senior-most politician in the country, Farooqi said.

Verma, who had attacked Mulayam quite a number of times in the recent past, remarked at a programme in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh: "Yadav wants to become prime minister. He should first try to get the job of a sweeper at the residence of the PM."
