Kundankulam nuclear power plant to be operational soon

"The decision will come anytime now. Reactor is a safe reactor no question about it and it is designed with the safety features. It depends on the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) to examine the test results and decide", said R Chidambaram.
Supreme court recently lashed out the government o Tamil Nadu for being lathargic in putting in place a plan for evacuation of people in the event of an accident at the Kundankulam nuclear power plant.
Villagers under the People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy banner have been opposing the project for the past two years, fearing for their safety, especially since the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in Japan in March 2011.
