Gujarat Cong mourns Mandela's 'death', later admits mistake
Ahmedabad, June 27: The Gujarat state Congress drew flak on social networking sites on Wednesday after issuing a press release mourning the death of former president of South Africa Nelson Mandela.
The news about the iconic leader's death went viral on the social networking media on Wednesday but the party went ahead with the press release without waiting for a confirmation from the South African authorities.

The release, signed by spokesman Jayrajsinh Parmar, said that state leaders Arjun Modhwadia and Shankersinh Vaghela expressed deep sorrow over the death of the anti-Apartheid leader.
Another Congress spokesman later acknowledged that it was a mistake for they had picked the news from some website and went ahead to issue the press release.
The South African leader was admitted to a hospital with lung infection in Pretoria since June 8 and rumours were doing the rounds about the death of the 94-year-old leader.
