Chopper crash: Bahuguna, Modi announce compensation
Dehradun, June 26: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Wednesday announced that his government will compensate the families of those killed in the helicopter crash in Gaurikund on Tuesday evening.
He said apart from Rs 10 lakh for each bereaved family, the state government will also provide free education to the children of the jawans who were killed in the mishap.

A Mi-17 V5 helicopter, which was on its third sortie, crashed killing all 20 on board. Bahuguna also declared a say of mourning over the incident.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that his government will also donate a sum of Rs 5 lakh to each of the families.
Air operations resume
Air sorties resumed between Badrinath and Joshimath after the rain stopped. More helicopters were grounded in Phata and Gaurikund where rain resumed. The Met department aired caution about helicopter movement as heavy shower was expected in various parts.
