US lawmaker calls for continued support for Uttarakhand

"I am deeply saddened by the severe flooding in northern India. The loss of life and extensive damage caused by this disaster is a horrible tragedy," Congresswoman Grace Meng, a member of the House of Representatives, said.
"I send my thoughts and prayers to the people of India, particularly those who have lost loved ones in this horrific catastrophe," Meng, an Asian American lawyer, said.
"I urge the US government to continue to assist India with its rescue efforts by providing whatever resources they require. I pray that rescue crews will continue to find more survivors," she said.
Meanwhile, the Indian-American community across the country launched fund raising drive for the victims of the Uttarakhand tragedy.
