SC Railway makes special arrangement for stranded pilgrims

Hyderabad, June 22: The South Central Railway (SCR) on June 21 dispatched a special empty rake consisting of 15 coaches to Haridwar for attaching extra coaches or operating special trains for clearing the pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains and floods.

Separately, a special train is being run from Delhi (Nizamuddin station) to Secunderabad to clear the passengers bound to Andhra Pradesh, the SCR said in a release here.

The special empty rake consists of six sleeper coaches, two AC-III tier, five general second class and two general second class luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Senior SCR officials are in close liaison with Railway Board and Northern Railway authorities to coordinate the movement of special trains/attaching extra coaches on trains from Northern region towards Andhra Pradesh to cater to the needs of the stranded pilgrims, the release said.

Extra coaches are also being attached to Secunderabad- bound Dakshin Express and Duronto Express from Delhi to clear the extra rush of passengers, it added.
