Narendra Modi to start 1st nationwide campaign outside Guj
Jalandhar, June 17: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will be addressing his first rally outside Gujarat, at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Memorial in Pathankot, after appointment as BJP campaign committee chairman on June 23.
Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma said that the party unit felt honoured that Modi would address the first rally outside Gujarat as campaign committee chairman from Punjab.

"June 23 holds a great significance for us as Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of India on this day," he told TOI.
The rally will be attended by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal also.
According to BJP leaders, the rally venue and time combine a great symbolism for different constituencies.
"While on one hand it will bring the issue of Article 370, which BJP had been opposing, again in the centre stage, on the other hand Modi will start his nationwide campaign from a state ruled by SAD-BJP alliance, SAD representing a minority community," said a senior BJP leader.
