Patna, June 16: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday reached the residence of Governor D Y Patil and made the split with the BJP official.

A special assembly session will be convened on June 19 where the JD(U) government will test its strength on the floor.

An official announcement on this is expected shortly from the JD(U) chief, Sharad Yadav. It was also learnt that BJP president Rajnath Singh was scheduled to address a press conference at 5 pm.

Meanwhile, reports said that senior BJP leader L K Advani regretted the split and reportedly told Singh that making Gujarat Chief Minister the chief of the party's poll campaigning committee for the next Lok Sabha elections was responsible for the split in the NDA, an ever-shrinking alliance.

Sources said the Bihar BJP will call a press conference under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi at 4 pm and reveal its future course of action. The BJP, with 91 seats, will be the main opposition party in the state assembly.
