Crucial JD(U) meet takes place, BJP ministers offer to quit

BJP leaders reportedly decided to skip the cabinet meeting. It was also said that the JD(U) is likely to formally announce teh termination of its 17-year-old alliance with the BJP. JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav convened the meeting on Sunday to take a final call on continuing the alliance with the saffron party.
Meanwhile, the BJP ministers of Bihar Cabinet offered to hand over their resignation to Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi. They assembled at the latter's residence at 12 noon, said reports. State party president Mangal Pandey and other senior members were present at the meeting to chalk out the future strategy.
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the JD(U) is wrong to assume that the BJP will split the right to choose PM candidate for that right belongs to the senior ally of the NDA. He, however, emphasised that the alliance should continue.
A meeting was also scheduled to be held at the residence of BJP president Rajnath Singh.
The JD(U) has decided to quit the NDA to protest elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the chief of the party's campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
