Congress announces reshuffle; Rahul Gandhi Vice President

New Delhi, June 16: The Congress on Sunday announced new working committee members, a day ahead of the proposed reshuffle-cum-expansion of the Union Council of Ministers. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will look after frontal organisations.

Meanwhile, Ajay Maken and CP Joshi, who resigned as ministers from the UPA government, have been made general secretaries of the party.

Janardhan Dwivedi briefed the media about the changes in Congress organisational structure. There would be 42 secretaries apart from 12 general secretaries. CP Joshi will look after West Bengal, Assam and Andaman Nicobar islands, whereas Maken will be looking after media cell.

Ajay Maken and CP Joshi, who resigned as ministers from the UPA government, have been made general secretaries of the party.

Digvijaya Singh has also found place in the new CWC, he will look after Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa, whereas Hariprasad will look after Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha assisted by Bhakta Charan Das, Shubhankar Sarkar and Tara Chand Bhagora.

Moti Lal Vohra will continue to be Treasurer, Ahmed Patel will remain Political Advisor.

Meanwhile, the other new Congress Working Committee (CWC) members are Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ajay Maken, Ambika Soni, BK Hariprasad, CP Joshi, Digvijaya Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Gurudas Kamat, Hema Saikia, Janardhan Dwivedi, Luisinho Faleiro. Madhusudan Mistry, Mohan Prakash, Motilal Vora, Mukul Wasnik, Shakeel Ahmed.
