Johannesburg, June 10: South Africans continue to pray for the iconic leader, Nelson Mandela, who spent his second night in the hospital on Sunday. The 94-year-old peace icon was admitted early Saturday and was in a "serious but stable" condition with a lung infection.

A report said that one of Mandela's long-time friend urged his family and countrymen to "let him go".

Government officials did not give any update on the ailing leader's health since announcing his admission in the hospital. It is said that the common South Africans were beginning to come to terms with the mortality of the father of the "Rainbow Nation" and also its first black president. Mandela has had a string of health scares in the recent times but survived them all.

The current admission of Mandela is his fourth since last December. Mandela, a Nobel laureate, is set to turn 95 next month.
