Advani shows his power at 85, shakes BJP with 1 bold step
New Delhi, June 10: 85-year-old LK Advani showed his power after compelling all young BJP leaders to rush to his residence in New Delhi on Monday, June 10. A single bold step from the veteran and all leaders assembled at his residence requesting him to withdraw his resignation.
Advani on Monday resigned from three crucial party posts -- BJP Parliamentary Board, Election Committee and National Executive. His resignation clearly showed his disappointment with party leaders who a day before had taken a decision moving against his demand.
BJP President Rajnath Singh and other leaders on Sunday declared Narendra Modi the chief of election campaign of BJP for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Advani was upset with the decision and had skipped the two-day crucial meet at Goa.

According to BJP sources, Rajnath Singh had requested Advani not to disclose his decision regarding his resignation in public. But the veteran released his resignation letter in media. The letter says, "our leaders are full of personal agendas."
Soon after his shocking move, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and many others rushed to his residence and urged him to withdraw his resignation.
Meanwhile, NDA allies also began reacting regarding the crisis. Rahul Narvekar, Shiv Sena leader, was quoted as saying, "Advani's resignation was 'unfortunate'. He is the tallest leader of the NDA. We urge that he continues to give his guidance to the NDA."
"I can only request Advaniji to withdraw his resignation. Whatever is coming out is not good. There should be a respectable solution to such a crisis. The role of RSS is important in this," said former Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh.
"I am surprised he never shared it with us. But I'm sure we will convince him," said Sushma Swaraj.
