Advani lacks grace, acts like factional leader
New Delhi, June 10: The damage has been done and it will remain like a ghost in the BJP's house even if a compromise is hammered out.
Senior leader LK Advani resigned from three party posts today and in the process drew attention to the party for all the wrong reasons, just a day after a road-map for 2014 was approved.
The most damning line is "our leaders are full of personal agendas". One can forgive Advani for not seeing the tide of support for Narendra Modi but to accuse the party leaders of personal agenda is unforgivable.

Advani had not been ignored but was asked to be part of an experiment. An experiment which was aggressive, positive, and still cadre-based. The cadre wanted a change and had shown energy to carry out the mission. But he chose to remain in his cocoon of top down politics.
If he wanted, he could have gone without making noise but his resignation letter is an indication that he is ready for compromise.
As we analyse the resignation of Advani, it seems that it may not be a no long term damage. Historically, generational changes have never been pretty and clean. When you are on a bold path a party needs this kind of a change. It is a necessity, to achieve structural changes in the party apparatus and reset the outlook.
