3 suspected terrorists 'forced' to take terrorism training

Bahraich (UP), June 6: Three suspected terrorists, detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at the Rupiadeeh check post on the Indo-Nepal border, have been handed over to the Delhi Police.

They have been sent to a rehabilitation centre at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi enroute to Jammu and Kashmir as they have applied for surrendering under the rehabilitation scheme of their state government, Additional SP VK Vaidya said today.

During interrogation, the trio said they had been forced to become terrorists and were taken to Pakistan for training in the '90s but they were now fed up and wanted to return to their homeland for which they had moved an application under the surrender and rehabilitation scheme of the Jammu and Kashmir government, Vaidya said.

They said that since they faced a threat from terror outfits on entering Kashmir directly from Pakistan they opted for the route via Nepal, he said. The SSB, which guards the 1,751 km Indo-Nepal border, had yesterday detained Mohammad Akbar Lone, Mohammad Shafiq Bar and Manzoor Ahmed Jargar - all belonging to Barmullah and Kupwara areas of Kashmir.

They had once worked for Hizbul Mujahideen and JKLF and arrived through a Pakistani airlines flight in Kathmandu on June 3 to enter India.
