MP govt gives jobs to over 1,000 physically challenged people
Bhopal, May 23: A total of 1,006 physically challenged people were provided jobs under the Madhya Pradesh government's ambitious 'Sparsh Abhiyan', official sources said today.
Under the campaign aimed at identifying persons with disabilities, a database of 8.10 lakh persons has been prepared by the government and among them 1,006 were appointed in government service, they said.
Besides, 14,595 disabled persons were identified for providing self-employment under the campaign while another 3,735 were given appointment by private institutions and industries. So far, 1,056 camps have been organised by the state government for identifying these persons and disability certificates were provided to 4,31,509 such persons.
Also, pension is being provided to 54,937 disabled persons and a financial assistance of Rs 500 per month to 32,082 persons with multiple problems. Under the campaign, the government has also solemnised marriages of 3,900 disabled persons and corrective surgery of 4,048 persons was also performed.
The government also constructed 91,219 disabled- friendly houses for them under the campaign, sources added.
