Sonia Gandhi takes on BJP, backs Prime Minister Singh
New Delhi, May 22: UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi expressed strong words while speaking at the UPA II government's fourth anniversary on Wednesday.
Slammed the Opposition
Gandhi strongly attacked the principal opposition party, the BJP, saying the latter was disrupting the Parliament and stopping the government from passing key legislation like food security bill and land acquisition bill. She said these issues serve the interest of millions of Indians and there should not be any partisan politics while dealing with them.

Backed PM Manmohan Singh
Gandhi strongly backed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying the latter was doing a good work despite relentless harsh criticism and hostility from the opposition parties and that she and her party always stood by him.
Blasted 'drummed up noise'
Gandhi said there was an effort to demean the government and drummed up noise to taint the government. She said there was a "calculated effort to falsify information". But she told that such efforts could not defeat the UPA's determination to go ahead with its work.
