Puerto Rico teacher, prison guard held for child porn

San Juan, May 22: A teacher and a prison guard were arrested in Puerto Rico in separate cases of child pornography, the US attorney in San Juan, Rosa Emilia Rodriguez, announced Tuesday.

She said in a statement that educator Rigel Colon Cruzado was arrested Monday after investigators discovered that he had been having sexually-oriented conversations with a 12-year-old girl.

Rodriguez said that the investigation revealed that the girl was one of the seventh-grade students of Colon Cruzado, a physical education instructor.

Meanwhile, prison guard Angel Marrero Hernandez was arrested last Friday for encouraging a 15-year-old girl to exchange nude photos using her cell phone.

Both men were sent before Judge Sylvia Carreño Coll, who ordered them to be held in the Federal Jail in Guaynabo, just outside San Juan, to await trial.
