The actor along with his family members and friends reached the court before 4 pm which was hid deadline to surrender before the court.
According to source, the actor had chest pain and headache soon after reaching the TADA court. Later he urged the court to allow him to take medicine. The judge allowed accepted most of his demands, however, did not grant him permission to smoke inside jail premise.
The 53-year-old actor first was taken to Arthur Road jail in Mumbai for medical check up. Later he would be taken to Yerwada jail in Pune where he would spend 42 months.
Dutt was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for possessing illegal weapons. Of the total term of five years, Dutt has already served 18 months in jail two decades ago and the Supreme Court, in its order of March 21, asked him to serve another 42 months.
The Bollywood superstar was accompanied by his wife Manyata and sister Priya Dutt. His family members broke down while sending him off. The actor urged his fans and well wishers to pray for him.
