Delhi Gangrape Shocker: Accused poisoned in Tihar jail

New Delhi, May 15: Lawyer of 20-year-old Vinay Sharma claimed that the accused of infamous Delhi gang-rape case has been given poison in Tihar jail.

AP Singh, the lawyer, was quoted as saying, "He was vomiting blood and running a very high fever. He was also suffering from chest pains. He is in a very critical condition."

Singh also asserted that Sharma was beaten and thrashed by fellow inmates in the prison cell. According to Singh, Sharma has been given poison in his food since past several weeks.

Sharma was rushed to a hospital where authorities refused to make any comment on Sharma's condition. There was no immediate reaction from authorities at Tihar.

Another main accused of the case - Ram Singh was found hang in the same prison in March 2012. Ram Singh, Vinay Sharma along with three other men including a minor had raped a girl in a moving bus in the national capital.

23-year-old para-medical student was gangraped and later was thrown out of the bus. Recently, it has been found that crucial documents of the bus have been destroyed.
