Cong workers protest outside BJP headquarters in Delhi

New Delhi:, May 15 : Over 200 Congress youth workers gathered outside the BJP headquarters I here on Tuesday to protest against the earlier attacks launched against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by the principal opposition party.

The Congress workers were reportedly protesting against BJP's demand for Singh's resignation and its non-cooperation with the government in passing crucial bills in the Parliament.

The protesters had to be stopped with water cannons after they broke police barricades. They were seen shouting anti-BJP slogans holding flags and banners.

A couple of days ago, around 2,000 BJP supporters clashed with the Delhi Police after flouting prohibitory orders and tried to march towards 7 Race Course Road, the official residence of the prime minister in central Delhi.

The protest was led by Anurag Thakur, the chief of the BJP's youth wing, and the head of the party's Delhi unit, Vijay Goel, and it sought the resignation of Singh over the coal scam.

The Congress and the BJP have locked horns over corruption issue both inside and outside the Parliament. A number of sessions in the Parliament have been washed out after the opposition created a ruckus over corruption charges against the UPA government.

The budget session of the Parliament was adjourned sine die two days before the scheduled end after the BJP members created a ruckus and walked out. Crucial bills like the Food Security Bill could not be passed as a result.
