US Consulates in Mumbai, Kolkata on terrorists' radar?

, May 6: An intelligence alarm was raised over a possible terror attack on the US Consulate in Mumbai and

on Monday, sources said. It was said that the Mumbai Police has been informed about the possible terror attack on the city's US Consulate in July by the Western Naval Command Headquarters.

The sources also said that officials of the consulate are being targetted after an anonymous letter with a logo of Al-Jihad was sent to them. The letter warns of attack also on the US Consulate in Kolkata. In January 2002, the American Centre in the capital of West Bengal was targetted by gunmen and five policemen were killed in the attack.

The letter with the Mumbai Police has also been sent to the US Consulate and the police are verifying the letter. No response has been received from the consulate yet.
