Security beefed up in Chennai after B'lore blasts
Chennai, Apr 25: Chennai police is exercising caution after the recent blast in Bangalore. Security has been tightened and additional police officers, patrol vehicles and enhanced night patrolling are some of the measures being taken.
Important public places which includes, malls, places of worship, markets and bus stands have increased security.
City Police Commissioner S George has directed the department to 'conduct constant checks in lodges, vehicles and railway stations'.
According to a press release 'officers are also directed to focus on vehicle parking lots and abandoned vehicles'. Further it said 'police would adopt a multi-pronged strategy to enhance security at night, with emphasis on vulnerable areas'.
Bangalore witnessed a blast near the BJP office on April 17. Around 16 people were injured, which included 11 policemen.
