Aurangabad:NCP leader's minor son held for mowing down child

, Arpil 17: NCP leader Abdul Qadeer Maulana's son has been detained after his SUV car knocked down two minor girls and their uncle in Aurangabad. The younger girl Navya Prakash Sonawane was killed on the spot.

According to the police, Maulana's son was driving the car. A driver who was seated next to the minor will be produced in court today.

The incident took place when the threesome were crossing the road.

Soon after the incident, the public tried to burn up the car. However, with the police reaching in time, they pacified the crowd.

Senior inspector Pratap Baviskar of Cidco police station said that the deceased, Navya and her three-year-old sister were on their way to a temple along with their uncle, Shirish Sonawane.

The uncle and neice were later admitted to hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.
