Nashik shame: Husband's family stomps pregnant woman
The 20 year old has alleged that her family was demanding for dowry of Rs 1.5 lakh for building a house. When the victim's in-laws came to know about the pregnancy, they took her to a 'godman' Shyambaba Shinde at Niphad, who told them that she was carrying a girl, the police said.
Suvarna was told to abort the child, however, when she did not agree, she was allegedly beaten up by her husband and his family on April 4.
The issue was highlighted by Mahendra Datrange, President of Nashik unit of Blindfaith Eradicating organisation after which the husband and his brother and other members were arrested. A case under 3 different sections of IPC have been registered against the accused. Suvarna's family, which alleged murder of the girl, is demanding the arrest of her mother-in-law Bibabai, Shinde and others involved in the killing.
