Major earthquake hits Iran; North & West India affected

, April 16: A major earthquake of 8.0 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Iran on Tuesday afternoon. The intensity of the earthquake was so high that North and West

felt the tremors. The epicentre of the earthquake was the Iran-Pak border.

The tremors shook Chandigarh, Noida and New Delhi. Many people rushed out of buildings in the National Capital Region (NCR). The quake lasted for several seconds.

According to reports coming in the quake was felt in Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and India.

A mild earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted Assam and several parts of North-east India on Tuesday (April 16) morning.

The quake is said to have occurred at 6.53 am. However, no reports of any casualties or damage of property has been reported so far.
