Boston Blasts: Does it signal terror attacks in India too?

Washington, April 16: What does a terror attack in US mean to India? Does it signal

in our home too?

Once again terror visited US, as bomb blasts occurred during Boston Marathon on Monday. Official figures say three people were killed and more than 100 injured in the tragic episode.

The incident has shocked the whole world, especially as the bomb blasts happened in US soil, where security measures to tame terror strikes are best to be found anywhere else.

If a terror attack can happen in US, during a public event, where runners were participating in a marathon event, then it must send shivers across India.

Media is terming the Boston Blasts as the major terror strike in US post 9/11.

But, post 9/11 India has witnessed several terror attacks across various states. The most recent one is the Hyderabad Bomb Blasts 2013, where two blasts occurred in Hyderabad's Dilsukhnagar areas on February 21, 2013. A total of 17 people died in the incident and left more than 100 injured.

Although, US security agencies are yet to identify the groups/organisations/ individuals involved in the Boston blasts, but the White House has termed it as "an act of terror".

In a television address President Barack Obama pledged the full resources of the federal government in helping Boston and in investigating the bombings and said those responsible would feel the "full weight of justice."

"The American people will say a prayer for Boston tonight," he said. The president cautioned that authorities were still investigating and that people should not jump to any conclusions before all of the facts are learned.

"But make no mistake," Obama said. "We will get to the bottom of this and we will find out who did this. We'll find out why they did this and we will hold them accountable."
