Verdict on Pune German Bakery blast case today

The powerful blast at the renowned refreshment centre in Koregaon Park had killed at least 17 people and seriously injured 64 others. Mirza Himayat Baig, who hails from Udgir in Latur district of Maharashtra, was arrested in Pune on September 7, 2010. He was arrested after police found 1,200 kg of explosives in his home.
Others who have been named in the case aree Mohsin Choudhary, Yasin Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Faiyaz Kagzi. All of them are still absconding.
The prosecution had told the court that the plan to carry out a blast at the German Bakery was hatched in Colombo in 2008, where Baig was trained to prepare a bomb. He had assembled the bomb at a cyber cafe in Udgir. He, however, claimed that he was not in Pune at the time of the blast.
