Family members involved in Deepak Bharadwaj murder?

, March 29: The family of Deepak Bhardwaj, slain leader of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has been through several rounds of interrogation in connection with his murder which took place on March 26. Now the police have come to the conclusion, that Bharadwaj's family may have a hand in his death.

The police believe that 'family dispute and business rivalry' may be the reason for the death.

His sons, Hitesh and Nitesh have been questioned since a lot of Bharadwaj's property is registered in his own name. Sources said that Bharadwaj had not given his family a share in the money. "He did not keep the family in the loop about his property deals and had asked his wife and sons to return the ownership of the Dwarka-based school, Shiksha Bharati School, which they were running," said a source.

Another suspect is a lady acquaintance of Bharadwaj who they feel may be connected to the murder. They suspect that someone very close to him, who is aware of his schedule is involved in the murder.

The police on Thursday detained 3 men in connection with the murder who are believed to be contract killers. A Skoda car which was used has been recovered. The assailants used the car to travel to Bharadwaj's farmhouse. CCTV footage was also released by the police which shows how two assailants, who entered into the farmhouse in Rajokri at 8:55 am on the pretext of booking the place for a marriage later shot him down.

Bharadwaj was the richest candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls with declared assets of over Rs 600 crore.
