Bhardwaj with SRK
New Delhi, March 27: Delhi police have been facing criticism as they are yet to arrest anyone in connection with Deepak Bhardwaj's murder. Despite having CCTV footage which shows how two assailants killed the BSP leader and real estate tycoon on Tuesday, March 26, police failed to take anyone under their custody.

Police sources believe that someone close to Bhardwaj might be involved in the crime over property dispute. Police, meanwhile, interrogated twelve persons in connection with the murder case.

62-year-old Bhardwaj, whose younger son is married to Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's sister-in-law, was shot dead at his Nitesh Kunj farmhouse in the national capital.

Police on Tuesday released a CCTV footage which shows how two assailants, who entered into the farmhouse in Rajokri at 8:55 am on the pretext of booking the place for a marriage, guned down the BSP leader. Bhardwaj later succumbed to his injuries later in a hospital.

According to sources, Delhi police with the help of Haryana cops have recovered a Skoda car, in which the killers traveled on Tuesday night from Jind area in Haryana.

The cops also questioned the family members of Bhardwaj to find out whether "property dispute" led to BSP leader's murder. A senior police official told media persons that police spoke to Bhardwaj's wife and sons. Apparently, the wife was staying separately from her husband.

Police sources say probe team questioned family members to ascertain whether there was a property dispute and if he had any "enemies". Bharadwaj was the richest candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls with declared assets of over Rs 600 crore.
