MNS workers attack Indiabulls office, 2 persons arrested
A group of 10-15 men, suspected to be member of the MNS, pelted stones at the security cabin of the main gate of Indiabulls Finance Centre at Elphinstone on Sunday night. The glass window of the cabin broke as a result.
Witnesses said the attackers were shouting slogans against Indiabulls and in praise of the MNS. Some said it was a publicity stunt as the men waited till television channels arrived on the spot to start throwing stones and then disappeared.
Sources in Dadar police station said the incident was being probed. A senior police inspector at the station said the police were going through the CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
Indiabulls authorities declined to comment on the matter.
The centre was relatively empty since it was a Sunday and four security guards were posted at the entrance when the attack took place. Sources said the security guards closed the gate as soon as the stone pelting started as a result of which nobody could enter the premises.
Earlier in the day, Thackeray had strongly opposed supplying water meant for drinking and irrigation to the Indiabulls thermal power project in Amravati district of Maharashtra. The MNS chief raised his objection while speaking at a public meeting in the district.
Several social workers and politicians from the district had criticised the government for diverting water for the project.
