UP shocker: Policeman insults 35 year old complainant

Deoria, (UP), March 22: In a state where crime is rising everyday, insensitivity is also on the rise. The indifference and callous attitude of the

police has been highlighted with a policeman caught on camera insulting a 35 year old lady who had approached the police after being raped.

"Who would rape an elderly woman who is a mother of four?" was the shocking response a Dalit woman got when she went to the police station to lodge a complaint.

According to reports, additional superintendent of police Keshav Chandra Goswami was fussing to register a complaint of rape.

The policemen in question, asked her questions about her children. When she said that her eldest son is 17 years old, he retorted, " Her oldest child is 17, why would anyone rape such an elderly woman?"

The woman was allegedly raped by one of her neighbours on Wednesday night however, a medical examination has not confirmed rape.

The ASP said that medical examination of the woman has not confirmed rape. Director general of UP Police, AC Sharma has assured that 'strict action will be taken against the ASP'.
