Anna Hazare to begin awareness tour on March 31
New Delhi, March 21: Activist Anna Hazare is set to embark on a long tour from March 31 to create awareness on issues like corruption, unemployment and price rise.
The tour, named Janatantra Yatra, will kick off from the historic Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar and cover Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh over a span of 18 days. Former army chief and close aide of the veteran activist said this on Thursday.
Addressing the media, Hazare said his team will not join any political party or contest elections to come to power. He said the disruption which is often caused in the Parliament is because of the selfish interest of the parties, adding that the entire system has to change and not just the government.
The activist, however, did not say if he would attend the protest fast of activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal scheduled later this week. The two had a difference over joining politics last year and parted ways.
