Fingerprinting test confirms Bitti's identity
Jaipur police commissioner B L Soni confirmed that a five-member team of Kerala Police matched his finger prints in Jaipur jail today.
"The team collected evidence and matched his finger prints which verified that the person in their custody is Bitti Mohanty," Soni said.
"Those who were in the investigating team of the rape case in Alwar also identified Mohanti," the commissioner said.
"Presently, the Kerala Police is probing its case and will go back to their state tomorrow with Mohanty. When their course of investigation is over, they will hand over him to us," he said.
Bitti Mohanty was taken to Jaipur on March 12 to confirm his identity as he claims to be Raghav Rajan. He was arrested in Kerala last week after 7 years. He had jumped parole while serving his term in prison at Alwar, Rajasthan.
Police sources informed that a 6 member team has taken the accused to Jaipur. The investigation is being led by Taliparamba circle inspector A V John.
Bitti is the son of former Odisha DGP BB Mohanty, who helped him jump parole. Earlier, Bitti was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for raping a 26-year-old German tourist in Alwar, Rajasthan. When he was allowed a 15-day parole to meet his ailing mother in 2006 Bitti jumped parole and was absconding since then.
Bitti's father was also accused of helping his son jump parole. The former Odisha DGP was suspended and arrested on the charge of helping and hiding his son. But he was later reinstated in service and retired last year.
