Mohali, March 8: Vijender Singh, the star of Indian Boxing world, seems to have landed in another legal soup as his name has been linked up with a drug racket case.

Police in Mohali seized heroin worth Rs 130 crore from a flat in Zirakpur, Mohali. Anup Singh Kahlon, a truck driver in Canada and is part of a drug network in Punjab, has been arrested regarding the case.

Khalon reportedly had told police that he used supply drugs to Vijender Singh and another boxer namely Ram Singh.

Mohali police did not rule out the possible connection between the drug suppliers and the boxers. Speaking to media, police officers were quoted as saying, "Nothing can be ruled out and we are probing the links between the accused and the boxers."

According to sources, Vijender Singh's wife's car was found outside the flat where the drugs were recovered. However, it is yet to be confirmed if heroin was found in Vijender's wife's car.

Police claimed that the accused Khalon might have connection with a bigger international drug peddling racket.

Meanwhile, Vijender Singh's coach Gurbaksh Sandhu expressed shock at the news of Vijender's alleged connection with the drug racket.

However, Vijender denied all reports saying that he did not have any connection with the arrested man and his name has been wrongly used in the case.

Vijender, who was honoured with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, won a bronze medal at 2006 Asian Games in Doha, a bronze at 2008 Beijing Olympics. He is the first Indian boxer who won an Olympic medal. Vijender was also the top-ranked boxer in middle-weight category in 2009.
