New Delhi, March 8: The CBI is set to file an FIR against former IAF chief S P Tyagi under sections of cheating and bribery in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal. The CBI believes that Air Chief Marshal (retd) Tyagi had received bribe from his cousins, Sanjeev and Docsa, to help AgustaWestland enter the tender process to supply 12 VVIP helicopters to India.

Sources said Tyagi's cousins were involved in defence deals in India and that kickbacks were paid to the Tyagi brothers through fake engineering contracts in Mauritius and Tunisia.

It was also said that Aeromatrix CEO Praveen Bakshi and advocate and former Aeromatrix board member Gautam Khaitan had allegedly routed bribe amount to the Tyagis. It was said that during interrogation, SP Tyagi had named Brajesh Mishra and the Special Protection Group (SPG) for recommending changes in the tender terms.

It was learnt that besides Tyagi, his cousins and Khaitan and Bakshi will also be booked under chating and bribery charges.

Sources also said that former SPG chief and Goa Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo was also under scanner and that the trail of the bribe money had been tracked.

The CBI had based its investigation on the Italian probe report into Finmeccanica deal. Alleged middleman Guido Hashke also confessed to have met the former IAF chief six to seven times which the latter, however, denied. Another alleged middleman Christian Michel allegedly promised to transfer huge money to SP Tyagi through the Tyagi cousins.
