Protests: Violence in Delhi again; Minor raped inside school

New Delhi, March 1: Violence once again broke out in New Delhi when a mob on Friday, March 1 pelted stones at the police and broke glasses of a bus protesting against a shocking case of rape.

A 7-year-old girl, student of class II, was sexually assaulted inside premises of a North Delhi Municipal Corporation school at in Mongolpuri in north-west Delhi on Thursday.

The girl, whose condition reportedly is serious now, has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Protesters started ruckus outside the hospital and police lathicharged on them to restrict them.

A senior police official was quoted as saying, "The victim was raped by a man inside the school campus on Thursday. Her parents approached us on Friday morning and a case has been registered."

"The victim could not tell us anything about the attacker. We are investigating the case. We are questioning the male staff, including teachers and a guard," he added.

Demanding swift action against culprits, residents of Mangolpuri staged a three-hour demonstration outside the local police station Friday morning, leading to traffic chaos in the area. Police had to use batons to disperse the crowds.
