Delhi Horror: Student kidnapped, raped & dumped; cops probe

, Feb 28: Delhi's shame of being the

capital of India continues to haunt the city. One more kidnapping and rape of a minor girl on Tuesday evening jolted the city. A 17-year-student was allegedly abducted, raped and later dumped at Palam in southwest Delhi.

Police said that they have identified the culprit.

A police official informed a case of kidnapping and rape has been registered. "The accused has 16 criminal cases registered against him. We have sent out teams, he will be arrested soon," a senior police officer said.

Police informed that the girl was introduced to the accused by her male friend. On the pretext of dropping the victim to her home in his car, the accused raped the teenager in a farmhouse.

"The girl complained that her friend got down at Dwarka Sector 9, and requested his friend to drop her at Dwarka Sector 23. She was reluctant to go with a stranger but the man assured her that he would drop her home safely. But he then drove the car to a farmhouse," a senior police officer said.

Delhi is in news as the rape capital of India in recent times. In fact, the national capital saw large-scale street protests in the wake of brutal gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student.
