Bihar opts for speedy trial in sensitive cases

The minister said that while 8662 cases against women, including those of rape and gangrape, were pending across the state in 2008 it rose to 10,231 in 2011. The state government was sensitive towards crime against women and dealing with the pending cases on priority basis.
Chaudhary referred to a case of gangrape of a Dalit in Saharsa which was solved within 22 days and three persons were given life sentence by the court recently. The minister said that the state government has established all women police station in 38 districts of the state to deal with crime against the fair sex urgently.
