Chennai:Hubby slits techie's throat, tries to commit suicide

, Feb 23: In a shocking incident of fit of rage, a husband attacked his wife who is a software engineer working with a renowned IT company in Chennai.

The man first slit the techie's throat and later tried to commit suicide inside the office premise on Friday, Feb 22. Both victim and her husband were rushed to a near by hospital. Doctors informed that both of them were in critical conditions.

Police official was quoted as saying, "The man appears to have come prepared with a pocket knife to attack her. Both had an argument at the office earlier and then he has slit her. We don't know what he's now but when they got married he used to be a driver."

Police registered a case of attempt to murder against the husband and took him under their custody.

According to sources, the accused was waiting for his wife inside the office campus. The incident raised questions on security of the company which is known for its high security facilities.

Eyewitnesses said the couple had an argument as the man was upset with his wife's decision of seeking divorce. Following their argument the former attacked the latter. Security officers and colleagues of the victim had tried to intervene. However, their efforts seem to have gone in vain.
