Hyderabad blasts: Sushma's take on Shinde raises tweets

New Delhi, Feb 22: The spirited speech by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha

, where she sought to know on links between blasts and hate speech by Owaisis, was taken note by the virtual world with Swaraj trending at number 6 on Twitter this evening.

Speaking after the statement by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, she urged the minister to follow up his words with action and not merely reiterate that the government was committed to fighting terrorism.

"Show that you are committed to fighting terrorism. Is the centre's role only to alert the states or help them stop acts of terror," Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha on the issue of terrorism and twin blasts in Hyderabad.

Sushma Swaraj said the central government had alerted Bangalore and Mumbai also about terror threat and wanted to know what steps had been taken to secure the two cities.

She also sought to link the Hyderabad blasts with the hanging of Afzal Guru and asked why the government took nine years to execute the parliament attack convict.

Sushma Swaraj also sought to know if the blasts were linked to the inflammatory speeches made recently by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leaders (Akbaruddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi) in Hyderabad.

Stating that the government and the opposition were not on the same page on handling terrorism, she said the two need to fight the menace jointly.
