Swine flu: Centre assesses situation

, Feb 20: With several cases of swine being reported from Rajasthan almost every day, a Central team visited Jaipur to assess the situation. According to the Heath officials, the state has taken adequate measures to fight the disease.

A total of 420 swine flu cases have been registered so far in Jaipur. As many as 850 persons have tested positive while 109 deaths have taken place due to swine flu in the state in the past three months.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently met Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in New Delhi and asked for help to tide over the crisis.

After the inspection, a meeting was held with Health officials. As per the available data, the state has witnessed the highest number of wine flu related deaths.

"The team took samples for sending them to lab for studying the spread of virus in the Rajasthan," said a medical official.

A report will be submitted to the Centre based on which a plan will be drawn out.
