Green signal for Lucknow metro

Lucknow,Feb 20:The much awaited metro rail system got a nod from chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Terming it as ímperative he said that it will be based on a Public Private Partnership programme.

A 5 member committee will set the project rolling. While finer details will take about 6 months to complete, it is expected that bids for developer of the project will be invited.

It is likely to be based on the Hyderabad model.

According to reports the design change in the blueprint will bring down the Rs. 12,600 crore price quoted by the DMRC for the project.

The cost of a kilometre of over-head track is approximately Rs. 180 crore while that of an under ground is around Rs. 500 crore per kilometer.
