Dog-Cat marriage solemnised to protest Valentine's Day

Udhagamandalam, Feb 14: Hindu Munnani hit on a novel way to protest observing of Valentine's day by solemnising the marriage of a dog and cat at the famous Botanical Gardens here today.

As policemen deployed for security in and around the gardens to prevent any untoward incidents watched, the dog was made a yellow thread around the neck of the cat by about 15 Munnani workers, who raised slogans.

Hundreds of tourists and young couples were in the garden at the time, sources said. Meanwhile, 14 persons, belonging to Hanuman Sena were arrested at nearby Kothagiri when they tried to stage a demonstration against observance of Valentine's day, police said.
