Allahabad Stampede
Allahabad, Feb 12: It has been learnt that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was busy attending his cousin's wedding, instead of meeting the victims of Allahabad stampede. Around 36 people died in a stampede in Allahabad railway station on Sunday evening.

The tragedy occurred around 7 pm on a footbridge between platform number 5 and 6 of the station. Lakhs of people were present at the station around that time, many on their way back from Allahabad after taking a holy dip in the ongoing Kumbh Mela.

The UP CM did not bother to visit the victims and their families, even several hours after the incident. Media reports say he was busy attending his cousin's wedding.

Some of the state ministers were also present with Akhilesh at his cousin's marriage.

Sources say Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh will pay a visit to the city on Tuesday, Feb 12.

An official said the father-son duo will review the security and other arrangements with regards to the huge influx of devotees, who are likely to come on the remaining Shahi Snans (Religious baths).

Nobody knows why the response from the ruling Samajwadi Party and its CM is delayed. Moreover, a blame game has began between the railway ministry and UP government. The UP government maintains that there was no lapse on their part and it is railways who are to be blamed for the incident.

"We all know who is to at fault for this incident," said Chief Minister.

However, Union Minister for Railways, Pawan Kumar Bansal has said the state administration is to be blamed for the stampede, and demanded the CCTV footage from the platform.
